Join us for our Mandela Day 2019 campaign

Help give our children a future where they can flourish!

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead” – Nelson Mandela

What is Nelson Mandela Day?
Nelson Mandela International Day
was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s Birthday on 18 July, 2009 via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly. It was inspired by a call made by Nelson Mandela a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.

Why the number 67?

For 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity – as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience, an international peace maker and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.

With Mandela Day around the corner on 18 July 2019, Youth Potential South Africa – YOUPSA invites you to join in our campaign, giving our children a future where they can flourish.

YOUPSA is hosting a Book Coverathon on this day! With your help we aim to cover 670 books for our literacy initiatives. Venue: Gamtoos Irrigation Board Conference Hall, Patensie. Time: come anytime between 1pm – 4pm.

Please join us for an hour or two, tell a friend, colleague or employee to get involved. If you have not covered a book before or feel rusty, we’ll show you how.

Here are 3 other ways
in which you can support YOUPSA’s Mandela Day campaign:

Option 1: YOUPSA invites you to give $67, $670 or $6,700 or any amount of your choice to support our literacy initiatives for rural children. Please donate here:

Option 2: Donate new childrens’ books (in Afrikaans, English or isiXhosa) or book covering materials, or a bookshelf.

Option 3: Give YOUPSA a bookshop voucher.

Happy Mandela Day!
