Where we work

Youth Potential South Africa – YOUPSA offers its programmes on farms and in townships in the De Rust area, Western Cape Province. Our work impacts many hundreds of at-risk children, youth and their communities.

De Rust is a small town at the foor of the Swartberg Mountains in the Klein Karoo region. The area’s main economy is based on agricultural farming. All of the children YOUPSA works with are from the farm labourers’ families.

The educational opportunities for these rural children are very poor. There are no youth centers, recreational facilities, activities, events, playgrounds, or other opportunities for personal development. One child said to us: “I wish there were more books. There are so many children here but no books for reading.”
