YOUPSA’s Meditation and Mindfulness programme gives people accessible, life-long tools for a peaceful, enjoyable and successful life without stress. Learning to Meditate is part of our weekly Youth Empowerment Programmes. We also offer meditation for teachers, managers, employees and organisations. Meditation is the practice of mindfulness. Practicing mindfulness means learning to maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations and surroundings. We tune into what we’re experiencing in this very present moment rather than roaming the past or imagining the future. It is a special way of training the mind that brings peace, clarity and harmony within. With the guidance of an experienced and skilled teacher it is easy to practice and integrate into one’s daily life.

For students, meditation increases both social and academic skills. It increases their pro-social behaviour, like helping and respecting others and decreasing behaviours like selfishness and bullying. Meditation improves a host of academic and learning skills in students: faster information processing, greater focus, more creativity and cognitive flexibility. Students learn to build their attention skills and regulate their impulses.
